Use the PS3 backup utility to backup everything to a FAT32-formatted external hard drive (not the replacement drive). Using the backup utility is best because it will save everything. If you don't have a large enough external HD, then you may selectively back-up your individual files. This would be a pain and some copyrighted files cannot be copied (e.g. Dragon Age savegames). Grab a philips screwdriver and remove the old PS3 hard drive as shown in the CNET guide.
Insert the new drive and power-up the PS3. Let it format the new drive.
Awesome thank you jexy. I'll probably really look into this in the next couple days when I can use the internet on my computer. I bought a wireless receiver just haven't had anytime to hook it up yet. I hate doing online stuff on my phone
